In my school years, I developed an interest in science, particularly biology, so a career in medicine held appeal. I also grew up with a respect for the value of educating others, since many of my family members are teachers by profession. That is what I most enjoy about medicine, teaching patients about healthy lifestyle choices and explaining their medical condition or illness, so they can take better care of themselves. I see patients of all ages, and really like getting to know multiple generations of family members. I currently take care of several members of a five generation family. Being a doctor is very rewarding, and since my dreams of playing pro hockey or baseball didn't pan out, I'm glad I chose medicine as my career.
