David G. McAlpine, M.D.
I have had the pleasure of being a family physician in the eastern Twin Cities for 25 years. Family medicine is a satisfying career in that it offers the intellectual challenge of keeping up to date with the latest medical developments and the invaluable rewards of long-term, personal relationships with patients and families. Major areas of interest include preventive medicine, disease prevention and adult medicine including chronic disease management, as well as sports medicine and treatment of injuries. I am very pleased to work for an organization that values high quality care, the way that Family HealthServices does.
Range of Practice
- Family physicians have a broad range of training and experience. Because of this I care for patients of all ages including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly.
- My practice emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention, and health maintenance, counseling, patient education, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses in a variety of health care settings (e.g. office, inpatient, critical care, long term care, etc.) I apply modern techniques to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of the vast majority of common illnesses and injuries.
- I feel that doctor-patient communication is important and encourage the role of the patient as a partner in health care. I get to know you and become familiar with your medical history, help coordinate your health care needs by serving as a patient advocate in all health related matters, including the appropriate use of consultants, health services and community resources. In my practice I strive for continuity of care for you and your family.
